mooney is a personal expense tracker provided by octyn (“we”, “us”). by installing or using mooney you agree to these terms. if you do not agree, please uninstall the app.
1. the service
mooney lets you log expenses by voice, scan receipts, organize splits, and view spending insights. most data stays on your device. optional features (cloud backup, sign-in, monthly email reports) require an account.
2. your account
you can use mooney without an account in offline mode. if you sign in, you are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure. we authenticate via email magic link or google oauth — there is no password to remember.
3. free and paid features
mooney has a free tier and a paid mooney+ tier. mooney+ adds voice tracking after the trial, receipt scanning, daily encrypted cloud backup, monthly HTML reports, and pro home-screen widgets. new users start with a 7-day mooney+ trial; after the trial, voice tracking and mooney+ features lock unless you subscribe through the google play store. the trial converts to a paid subscription automatically when it ends — if you don’t want to be charged, cancel in your google play subscriptions before the trial period is up.
4. subscriptions and billing
- mooney+ is billed through google play. pricing is shown in the app at the time of purchase, in your local currency.
- subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly, quarterly, or annual depending on the plan you chose) unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. lifetime purchases are a one-time charge and never renew.
- you can cancel anytime in your google play subscriptions. cancellation stops future renewals; access continues through the end of the current period.
- refund requests follow google play’s refund policy. some jurisdictions grant additional statutory withdrawal rights (e.g., the EU’s 14-day cooling-off period); where those apply, they override the play policy.
5. acceptable use
don’t use mooney to: break the law; reverse-engineer or attack the service; resell or sublicense access; use it for non-personal commercial bookkeeping in violation of local regulations; or upload images you don’t have the right to.
6. your data
you own the expense data you log in mooney. our handling of personal data is described in our privacy policy. you can export your expenses, download a backup file, or delete your account from settings; deletion erases your cloud-stored data within 30 days.
7. voice and vision features
voice transcription, intent parsing, and receipt OCR run through third-party providers listed in the privacy policy. output may be wrong — mooney shows you what was extracted before saving so you can correct it. don’t rely on mooney for tax or accounting decisions without verifying the underlying entries.
8. service availability
we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. maintenance windows, provider outages, and bugs happen. local-first storage means most of the app works offline; cloud features require connectivity.
9. termination
you can stop using mooney at any time. we may suspend or terminate access for users who breach these terms or use the service in ways that risk other users or our infrastructure. we will give reasonable notice when possible.
10. disclaimer of warranties
mooney is provided “as is” and “as available”. to the extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties — express, implied, statutory, or otherwise — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
11. limitation of liability
to the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for mooney+ in the twelve months before the claim. we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
12. changes
we may update these terms as the service evolves. the “last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. material changes will be flagged in-app before they take effect.
13. governing law
these terms are governed by the laws of india. disputes that can’t be resolved through good-faith conversation will be heard in the courts of guwahati, assam, india. nothing in this clause limits consumer-protection rights that you may have under the laws of your country of residence.
